Article:Motorhoming Lifestyle - What's it all about?

For those of you who already enjoy the "lifestyle" you know what it's all about.

Having the freedom to go where you want when you want. If it's too cold move north and if it's too hot move south. If you don't like the neighbours move on, and if you do like the neighbours stay, enjoy their company and sometimes make lifelong friends. If the fish are biting stay a few more days, if not move onto the next good fishing hole you just heard about from the guy who just pulled in. We have travelled north to get away from the Canberra winter. Whilst we usually have a general idea of a route it is never fixed and can change from day to day. On many occasions the camp site has just been too nice to move on.

It's all about freedom to do what you want when you want. If you enjoy visiting family and friends plan the trip to take them all in. If you enjoy fossicking move onto the next fossicking hot spot or next photographic hot spot if that's your interest. If craft is your game travel from craft show to country market and sell your wares to fund your travels. For me it is moving from one great swimming hole, waterfall or walking track to another. For my husband it is chasing Australian history, in particular aviation and war history and anything to do with cars and motor racing. You can spend many months just on these few interests.

It's about making friendships, whether it be a chat at a rest stop with whoever you come across to talk about the weather, or sharing travelling stories and swapping your best free camps around the campfire, to catching up with someone you met at a previous campsite or motorhome get together. We have made many friendships which we have treasured. When people ask me what was the best part of our last trip I respond that it was the people we met and not necessarily the place we went. That is not to say the places were not great but the great times we had with the people we met made all the difference.

It about getting away from the usual 9-5 or routine of the home lifestyle. It is not necessarily about getting away from "it all" as there are still the shopping to do and the meals to cook but think of the variety and challenge in cooking over the campfire instead of the stove.

What ever the reason you want to enjoy the motorhome lifestyle get out and do it. Don't wait till you retire, or the kids are off your hands, or you change jobs or any other reason you have to put it off. Even if you only enjoy it on weekends whilst you are still working or hiring a vehicle to try it out give it a go - you won't regret it.

And along the way stay tunned to this e-zine - we will give you tips and ideas on how to do it
