Article: Hiring a Motorhome or Campervan

A friend asked recently where can I hire a campervan for a reasonable price?

If you do not own a motorhome or campervan but think you may like to try it but do not want to pay the usual hefty hire fees, or have a motorhome and want to introduce friends or relatives to the lifestyle I have come across a great web site that offers cheap deals. This site is a hub for rental companies who want to move their vehicles around the country or back to home base and they will let you take the vehicle for them for as low as $1 per day and some will even throw in fuel. There is an allocated number of days you have to get the vehicle to its destination with earliest pick up date and latest drop off date giving you a range of dates to travel.

At the time of writing this article you could pick up a 4 berth 4WD in Melbourne on 21st May and drive to Brisbane in 4 days for $1 day and they throw in $250 fuel. Have a holiday in Brisbane for a week or two then there is a 2 berth available to come back over 5 days at $1 per day with unlimited km's so you could go via the coast or Broken Hill and Bourke.

Alternatively you cold pick up a 2 berth in Sydney now and take 20 days to get to Cairns with unlimited km's for $35/day. Just think of the possibilities - outback Queensland then back to the coast. Then pick up a 6 berth in Cairns and take 7 days to come back with unlimited km's again. This time only $1 day and they throw in $100 fuel. A 27 day campervan hire with unlimited km's for $707. You would pay more than this in repairs, maintenance and upkeep of your own motorhome for this time and distance

These are just two examples of the trips you could put together.

As long as you are over 21, have a licence and credit card you can hire one. Great opportunity to try out the great lifestyle that motorhoming has to offer.
