Helpful Hints for using Regions, Towns and Expense Categories
The purpose of this guide is to help you get the most out of using this aspect. Good planning will make for useful data collection in the program Campsites, TV and Radio stations are all based on Towns and each Town is within a Region. Regions can be classified any way you wish but States are a good starting point. For example if you are travelling in Australia it is a good idea to have Regions such as Queensland, Victoria etc. If you are travelling in the USA you might like to have California or Nevada as regions Towns are more self explanatory. Each town must be within a Region. You may have several campsites or TV and Radio stations in a town Each expense is divided into Categories and each category must have a sub-category or Type. There are several Categories already in the program but you can add others as you see the need. Before you add a Category ensure you look at the list already provided. Remember that each Category must have a sub-category. For example if you spend money on phone calls but you also have an internet connection do not use a Category of Phone. Use the Category of Communications with Phone and Internet as Types (or sub-categories) under the Communications Category In the current version of Nomads Notes you cannot edit Regions, Towns or Categories. There are a few options though. Firstly ensure you have an understanding of Regions or Categories as above before creating new ones. If you do make a mistake you can simply ignore the incorrect one and make a new one of the name you wish. If the incorrect labels bother you there are two options. Firstly if you have Microsoft Access installed on your computer and you are reasonably confident in using it you can go into the tables and edit them. Only use this option if you understand the relationships between Regions and Towns for example and that if you delete a Region you will also delete all towns associated. Alternatively you can save you data by clicking File>Backup Data and then send the saved .dat file to gail@motorhominglifestyle.com . I can then edit the categories or regions for you and send it back.

I find though that once people get used to the program they rarely need to do this
