Below are some videos of common actions within Nomads Notes
If you wish to view in full screen click on the full screen icon 2nd from the right at the bottom of each video

Add a Vehicle

On the top level menu click Data>Vehicles>New Vehicle
Or
Click on the vehicle icon (5th from the left - looks like a truck)
Click on the yellow plus sign at the bottom of this screen.
Add the details of at least one vehicle. Ensure you give the vehicle a name in the "Vehicle Name" field
Click OK

Click on the truck icon again to see your vehicle listed on the left of the screen
To edit click on the edit icon at the bottom right of the screen. Click OK when finished

Start a Trip

You must have at least one vehicle in your database before you start a trip (see add a vehicle above).
Click on the Suitcase icon (first one on the left)
or
From the top line menu click Trips>New Trip.
Fill in the details of where you are going.
Click on the drop down calendar and select the date you are commencing the trip.
Select the vehicles (or vehicles) you will be taking on the trip. To do this click in the green plus sign beside the Vehicle details and select the vehicle you will be taking from the drop down list.
Enter the vehicle odometer reading for the start of the trip. All mileage data for the trip will be based on this first reading.
Click OK to enter the vehicle
If you are taking a second vehicle follow the same process to add the second vehicle to the trip
Click OK again to start the New Trip

To edit select the trip from the list on the left of the screen.
Right Click Edit
Edit details
Click OK

You can do all this with "dummy" information as a trial if you wish then delete the trip later.


Add a Journal Entry

If you are not in the journal screen click on the journal tab from the tabs at the top of the right hand side of the screen
Click on the yellow plus sign at the bottom of the screen and a "new Journal entry" screen will come up.
Type your title
Check the date is correct and change if necessary
Type in your journal entry. Use the spell check button if you wish
To add a photo click Select Photo. Navigate your way through your folders on your hard drive and choose a photo. Click Open
Add a caption for your photo if you wish
You can add your campsite information at the same time by clicking on the Camp, Cost and Mileage detail button
Click OK  to save the journal entry.

To edit your journal entry
Scroll though the journal entries with the arrows at the bottom of the journal page to find the journal entry you wish to edit
Edit the entry
Click on the Save journal changes icon at the bottom of the journal screen (3rd from right)

To change your photo
Click on the change photo entry at the bottom of the journal entry screen (4th from right)
Select the new photo
Click OK

Add a Campsite

Click on the campsite icon (3rd from right). This will bring up the campsite browser.

To add a new Region, click on the green plus sign at the side of the region field and add a new region. Please add the new region before you add the new campsite

To add a new campsite click on the yellow plus sign at the bottom of the screen
Fill in all the first five fields with information about the site. Fill in other fields as well if you wish.
To add a new Town or Site Type click on the green plus sign beside the field.

Add an Accommodation Expense

 Click on the Accommodation icon (third from left – looks like a house)
or
Click on the Camp, Cost and Mileage detail box in the New Journal Entry screen.
or
Click on Trips>Accommodations Expenses>New Accommodation Expense
This will bring up the Accommodation dialog box.

Check the date and day number are the correct day
Enter cost of the nights campsite
Choose the Region of your campsite
Choose the town
Select (highlight) the campsite.

If the campsite is not in your database click “Add New” (see adding a new campsite above)

Type in the odometer reading at the end of the day for each vehicle in the Mileage section at the bottom

Click OK



Add a Fuel Expense

Click on the petrol pump icon (2nd from the left)
or
From the top line menu click on Trips>Fuel Expenses>New Fuel Expense

Fill in the information in the Fuel Expenses dialogue box. Choose the vehicle from the drop down box
Input  your odometer reading at the Mileage field
Cost is cost per litre (metric) or gallon (imperial). Input this field in dollars eg if fuel costs $1.15 per litre input 1.15
The Total Cost field will fill automatically when you input number of litres and cost per litre
 Click OK to save

Edit a Fuel Entry

To edit click Trips>Fuel Expenses>Browse Fuel Expenses
Click on the expense from the list on the left of the screen that you want to edit
Change the details in the right hand side of the screen
Hit the Tab key or move the cursor to any other field Click the save icon at the bottom of the screen (last one on right) Close the screen

Add a new Photo Album

From top line menu click on File>Create Photo Album
Or
Click on the Photos tab
Click on new album icon at the bottom of the screen (second from right)

Select the correct trip from the drop down menu under trips
From the top line menu click on Photos>Add new album
Choose a name for the album
Click on the autoload photos from box
Click Browse
Navigate to the folder in you hard drive where you have the photos stored
Click OK
Input a location where photos were taken
Click OK

The photos will take several seconds to load – longer for larger albums

Click on the thumbnails on the left to show photo on the right of the screen.
Input details of photos if you wish

To view a slide show of photos click Photos>Slideshow

Add an Expense

Click on the New Miscellaneous Expense icon (4th from the left)
Select the category of expense from the drop down list
Select the subcategory (or Type) from the drop down list
Check the date of the expense if correct. If not select the correct date from the drop down calendar
Enter the amount and description
Enter notes about the expense if you wish
Click OK
Click on the expenses tab,

Or
Click on the expenses tab
Click on the yellow plus sign at the bottom of the screen
Select the category of expense from the drop down list
Select the subcategory (or Type) from the drop down list
Check the date of the expense is correct. If not select the correct date from the drop down calendar
Enter the amount and description
Enter notes about the expense if you wish
Click OK
Choose the category from the left hand side of the screen and you will see you expense listed on the right hand side

To see the expense report click on “Report” at the top of the Expenses tab (next to “Data”

Add an Expense Category

Click on the New Miscellaneous Expense icon (4th from the left)
Click on the green plus sign to the right of the category
Enter the name of the Expense category you wish to add
Click on the green plus sign to the right of the Type (subcategory)
Enter the name of the Type of expense (subcategory) you wish to add
Note: each category must have at least one Type (or subcategory)

Or

Click on the expenses tab
Click on the green plus sign to the right of the category
Enter the name of the Expense category you wish to add
Click on the yellow plus sign at the bottom of the screen
Select the category of expense from the drop down list
Click on the green plus sign to the right of the Type (subcategory)
Enter the name of the Type of expense (subcategory) you wish to add


Then
Continue to add the rest of your expense details as follows
Check the date of the expense if correct. If not select the correct date from the drop down calendar
Enter the amount and description
Enter notes about the expense if you wish
Click OK
Choose the category from the left hand side of the screen and you will see you expense listed on the right hand side

To see the expense report click on “Report” at the top of the Expenses tab (next to “Data”)

Add Vehicle Maintenance

Click on the vehicle icon (5th from the left)
Click on the maintenance tab at the top of the screen
Click on the yellow plus sign at the bottom of the screen
Select the correct vehicle from the drop down list
Select the Type of Maintenance from the drop down list 
        To add a new Type of Maintenance click on the green plus sign to the right of Type 
        Enter the name of the type of maintenance 
        Click OK
Check the date of the expense is correct. If not select the correct date from the drop down calendar
Enter the amount paid for labour. If you did it yourself leave at zero
Add the parts used by clicking on the green Add Part plus sign
Change the number of parts purchased to the correct amount if more than one purchased
Choose the part from the drop down 
        To add a new Part click on the green plus sign to the right of Part 
        Enter the name of the Part to add 
        Click OK
Add the total cost of the part(s)
Click OK
Add notes about the Maintenance if you wish
Click OK
The expense will then show in the Maintenance report
Scroll to the bottom of the report to see the expense you have added. Note the report may be several pages long. Scroll though the pages with the right and left arrows at the top of the screen.

View Maintenance Report

Click on the vehicle icon (5th from the left)
Select the correct vehicle from the list on the left
Click on the maintenance tab at the top of the screen
Note the report may be several pages long. Scroll though the pages with the right and left arrows at the top of the screen.

Restore Data

If you have a saved backup file of your Nomads Notes you can restore this data
Click File>Restore Data
Click Yes
Choose the saved file from your Nomads Notes Backup Folder
Click OK
